Reducing stress in the workplace – not that difficult?
A very recent study carried out be Goldsmiths and commissioned by the CIPD and the Health & Safety Executive in the UK has identified that HR and line managers can reduce stress at work by taking simple steps to improve management practice.
These include monitoring and managing workloads (77%) listening to and consulting their team(68%) keeping staff informed about what was happening(63%) and showing consideration for individuals and their personal lives(61%)
Stamp out poor spelling in the workplace
The Department for Education and Skills has warned the UK Government that employers need to do more to stamp out poor spelling and grammar in the workplace.
Managers expressed frustration at the number of grammatical mistakes in application forms and CVs but Ministers argue that employers have a vital role in encouraging and supporting staff to improve their basic skills. “ Concerns around the level of reading, writing and maths should be right up there with managing absence and staff morale” said the skills minister, Phil Hope.
