Trends in Learning & development – CIPD survey Jan 2007
- Organisations on average spent £469 on training per employee
- Employees received an average of 5.1 days training
- Almost 8 in 10 organisations used coaching activities
- The implementation of new programmes to develop the roles of line managers was the most common change to workplace practices in the past year
- On – the –job training was identified as the most effective form of learning by 39% of respondents.
51% of responding organisations undertook activities to manage talent in their organisation – mainly developing high-potential individuals (67%) and growing future senior managers(62%), usually in the form of in-house development programmes, coaching and succession planning.
